Plastic pollution is a global problem. Although there are many initiatives focused on reducing its negative impact, the amount of plastic produced and consumed each year continues to increase. Plastic pollution is linked to health problems and has serious impacts on wildlife and ecosystems around the world.
There are many different types of plastic products, including bottles, bags, toys, food packaging, medical devices and others that need to be recycled.

The variety of plastic types makes it difficult to sort waste into specific categories. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that many materials cannot be sorted manually because they contain additives and/or impurities that interfere with conventional sorting methods.
To solve this problem, trinamiX has developed a unique solution based on near infrared spectroscopy (NIR). By analysing the chemical composition of the sample, trinamiX provides information about the type of plastic and enables the identification of even complex mixtures.
This innovative approach helps to improve recycling rates and increase the value of recycled products. At the same time, it reduces costs and increases safety for operators and consumers. The device is compact enough to fit in a briefcase. It is very easy to use and scans items in seconds.

The general database for plastics will be divided into 2 specialised plastics applications: Plastics LITE and Plastics PRO
- Plastics LITE recognises the most common plastics in post-consumer recycling: HDPE, LDPE, PP, PVC, PS, PET.
- The more comprehensive Plastics PRO now recognises 31 plastic types: HDPE, LDPE, PP, PVC, PS, PET-A, PET-G, PA6, PA6.6, POM, PB, PBT, PEEK, PU, ABS, ABS-PA, PC, PC-ABS, SAN, SBS/SEBS, ASA, PAI, PPS, PEI, PESU, PSU, PPSU, PI, PVDF, PMMA, PLA. The database has been expanded to include PET-A, PET-G, PLA, PA6, PA66 and PC-ABS.
